Spellwork and Spiritual Hygiene With Visionary in Residence Krysta Venora

Episode Description

This is the first of our four-part series highlighting the stories and teachings of Holisticism's very own Visionaries in Residence. Our goal in creating The Visionaries in Residence program at Holisticism is to incubate and support a select number of practitioners and providers in the wellness space who are making wellness more inclusive and accessible through innovative and visionary work. Michelle, Krysta, and Thais sit down and dig into Krysta's religious and mystical upbringing, navigating religion and spirituality, spiritual hygiene, spellwork and prayer, rites of passages, and everything in between.

"Everybody's culture had all of these incredible rites of passage...we had all of these societies that you had your particular place in, it was important and celebrated when you found where you fit, where you were going to be necessary and valuable to the community, and where you're going to thrive. It wasn't just a singular celebration, it was a whole community celebration." – Krysta Venora

“It was the scariest thing ever to just admit that maybe it wasn't what I wanted to do.” - Krysta Venora

Not only are you hurting communities when you take things that aren't yours and bastardize them, but cultural appropriation is literally bad for you. It's bad for you. You are robbing yourself of a deep and true connection to who you are and where you came from, and also your real power. - Krysta Venora

When you are searching for a connection, when you're searching for power, you are going to find it inside of you. - Krysta Venora

Almost every practice that people are really into appropriating that is not belonging to them has a similar if not nearly identical practice in their own region and their own people. Because humans have always been channeling through spiritual tools. - Krysta Venora

“I hadn't experienced a spell that didn't work. And I hadn't experienced a spell that didn't work quickly.” - Krysta Venora

“That was my first real experience with a ghost or a spirit, and it was so terrifying.” - Krysta Venora

“I don't notice that these things are weighing on me until something sneaks in. It's usually like a sleep paralysis demon.” - Michelle Pellizzon

If you want to be practicing powerful magic, you have to find what is already living inside of you. - Krysta Venora

  • [0:10:00] Every Full Moon is the opportunity to shed things that no longer serve us. But when we miss out on those opportunities, we are stuck with all this baggage.

  • [0:10:36] …that's because we don't take the time to say thank you and goodbye to who we were, and hello, I accept, here's who I am going to be.

  • [0:12:21] When you take away people's identity, and you take away their power, that means they have to depend on someone else.

  • [0:16:48] Rite of passage is about everyone being excited, and celebratory about that person finding their place in our community.

  • [0:23:12] “It was the scariest thing ever to just admit that maybe it wasn't what I wanted to do.” - Krysta

  • [0:23:39] When you've built your identity upon something and your identity is being rocked, there is the reckoning and that's the scary part.

  • [0:24:09] “It felt terrifying because then it was up to me to decide what it was that I wanted.” - Krysta

  • [0:25:09] “I hadn't experienced a spell that didn't work. And I hadn't experienced a spell that didn't work quickly.” - Krysta

  • [0:40:54] Michelle shared her experience of seeing female spirits when she first slept in her partner’s house.

  • [0:43:47] “I don't notice that these things are weighing on me until something sneaks in. It's usually like a sleep paralysis demon.” - Michelle

  • [0:47:08] There's a reason why literally everyone all over the planet from the beginning of time has been praying. That's because it works.

  • [0:47:26] “I pray every day. I ask the angels that guide me, the animals, my actual spirit guides, for their continued protection and guidance.” Krysta

  • [0:48:40] Take an Epsom salt --- put sweet almond oil, rosemary oil, and a couple drops of castile soap and mix it all together.

  • [0:50:00] With witchcraft and with spirituality, you are literally forced to deal with the pace because the spirits don't understand time and the way that we've crafted it for ourselves. That's where a lot of frustration comes from.

  • [0:50:49] Before every spell, you got to clean your house.

  • [0:52:11] Clapping is classic. It works like a bell. When you walk around your house, make clapping around in the corners, you are also cleansing it.

  • [0:54:11] Take the water and clean your entire house, mop the floors, clean every single surface. That's the whole spell. You can't just do the good smelling thing. You need to do the whole thing.

  • [0:55:39] If you want to be practicing powerful magic, you have to find what is already living inside of you.

  • [1:01:42] There's no excuse for you not to be looking at your own lineage.

  • [1:03:09] There's no such thing as a spiritual quick solution.

  • [1:05:52] There's no one way to just be good consistently. It's about actively choosing what you think is in the highest or best of you, and that you have power over. [1:06:06] It's the Age of Aquarius so the way that we're thinking is definitely evolving.

  • [1:10:16] Increasing your failure tolerance is acknowledging that you have to fail in order to move forward, because you have to do something different.

  • [1:10:33] Failure feels like death.

  • [1:15:00] If we treat the planet correctly, if we work with the resources that we have, overpopulation will never be a problem.

  • [1:15:30] We are literally supposed to be in communion with the planet.

  • [1:16:34] Do what we can with what we have and we surrender the rest because we have to.

  • [1:17:34] It is ancestral work no matter where you're from. Because the earth needs us.

  • [1:21:30] If you're stuck, if you're confused, if you're having a spiritual awakening, or you're not sure what that word means, but you can't sleep, then Krysta can help you.

  • [1:22:26] End of episode with Krysta.

  • [1:22:38] Michelle will be sharing her ghost stories soon!
