The Polarity of Faith

We just spoke about Polarity being one of the 7 Universal Principles.  Faith has polarity like many other things.  The enemy or polar opposite of faith is doubt.   It is what keeps us in our shells and keep us from venturing out.  History is made up of people who have had faith.  Those that doubt are forgotten.  It’s difficult to beleive in those that don’t beleive in themselves.  Doubt comes in many forms to many people.  It can come from friends, family or stangers.  Usually that doubt comes from within.  It’s only outsiders that inflame the doubt within us.

“The Secret” and “What the Bleep Do We Know!?” both address faith and doubt in their own ways.  What the Bleep talks about creating your own day from beginning to end before you even get out of bed.  The Secret addresses the fact that positive thoughts are more powerful than negative thoughts yet most people ask for what they want in a negative way.  That is doubt.  In the Christian Bible Yahshua states , “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

When we look at ‘impossible’ feats we assign impossibility to them and in essence tell ourselves that they are impossible to us.  When we see possibilities we recognize human potential.  When I was a child I used to think that I could move things with my mind and read people’s thoughts.  As I got older I ‘learned’ that that is not possible.  I beleived.   Look what beleif did for me.   In the movie the Matrix they make many references to faith.  They talk about how the mind makes things real.  If you think you are hurt or dying you will be.  We all are the prophets of our self fulfilling prophecies.  We are all our own saviors.

The Universe places few limits on us, most limits are self imposed.  Free yourself and have faith in your thoughts, words and actions.

The 4 Agreements

4 agreements

This book deals with holisticism on many levels.  Its approach to living life incorporates  things around you and is all encompassing.    The theories link physical actions to spiritual ideas.  Each of the Agreements has been taken from original Toltec wisdom.  While they may seem basic, therein lies their beauty.  They are not overly complicated, which is how life should be lived, simply.  Being good and righteous may be difficult but it’s not complicated.  Here are the agreements:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

These principles each deserve their own post.  They could be a whole volume to themselves.  To live life wholly, you may incorporate these agreements unconsciously.  Their reiteration is just to bring to light something that should be done at each moment of the day.  They can lead to personal freedom.  In the spirit of Holisticism, they don’t contradict any existing religion or spiritual systems.    Just like Zen can be applied to Buddhism, Christianity or Islam, so can Holisticism.  The 4 agreements are holistic and can fit under it’s umbrella.

7 Universal Principles

There is a book called the Kybalion that was written thousands of years ago.  It was written prior to Rome or Greece.  Some say it comes from the early days of Egypt on the African continent when man was still young.  The tools are simple.  They are the basic things you would have in any toolbox.  Hammer, screwdriver, tape measure, wd-40, duct tape, vice grips and a saw.  No, they are always as intricate and specific as some other specialized tools but they can be used to fix JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!

Each principle can take a lifetime to master.  It’s like a game a chess.  A child can learn but true mastery takes application, practice and dedication.  The principles were only given to the learned for fear that that fools would trample them under trodden foot.  The principles are as follows:

I. THE PRINCIPLE OF MENTALISM.
“THE ALL is MIND; The Universe is Mental.”–The Kybalion.

Everything begins with a thought.  Before writing something the thought had to exist.  Thoughts are the highest form of energy we can THINK of.  The Universe was a thought before it was created.  Everything in this physical and spiritual reality began as a thought in the mental plane.

II. THE PRINCIPLE OF CORRESPONDENCE.
“As above, so below; as below, so above.”–The Kybalion

Everything that exists on higher planes exists on lower planes.    Things that exist on the mental plane are mirrored on the physical plane.  Many believe that the spirit and mind are the true sources of most physical illnesses.  It begins with thoughts and permeates to the other planes.  As above, so below.

III. THE PRINCIPLE OF VIBRATION.
“Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates.”–The Kybalion.

Science understands this principle all to well.  Even the things that look solid are made up of atoms which are in constant motion.  The thing that determines the state of the matter or energy is the speed of the vibration.  The amplitude and frequency can determine if you are walking on water.  It’s easy if it’s ice.  Positive thoughts move more quickly than negative thoughts.  Matter and energy are both made up of the same types of atoms but the difference is the configuration in the electron shell.  The faster moving is energy while the slow moving becomes matter.  And while matter has  distinct vibrations that we recognize, so does energy.  Strong force, weak force, gravity and magnetism.

IV. THE PRINCIPLE OF POLARITY.
“Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same;
opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all
paradoxes may be reconciled.”–The Kybalion.

Think of a magnet with two poles.  Also one of the 4 energies of the universe.  Where does cold begin and hot start?  How about smart and dumb?  It all depends on  who is the judge of the poles.  There are some perceived absolutes but in time we see that they too are relative.

V. THE PRINCIPLE OF RHYTHM.
“Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.”–
The Kybalion.

We all go through cycles, both men and women.  We have personal ultradian rhythms throughout the day.  Monthly cycles.  Lunar cycles.  Solar cycles.  The Earth rotates in cycles on it’s axis and another around the Sun.  The Sun revolves around the center of the galaxy.  Every 25,000 years the Earth cycles through 12 astronomical ages due to the wobble of the Earth on its axis.

VI. THE PRINCIPLE OF CAUSE AND EFFECT.
“Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but
a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.”–The
Kybalion.

Any mechanical engineer can explain cause and effect.  So can any physicist or preacher.  Every cause has an effect.  When people don’t see causes they call it luck or magic.   When people don’t see effects they can’t see the value of their actions  Karma works off of cause and effect on the spiritual plane.  On the physical plane, if you plant a seed in the ground it will grow up according to its purpose.  There is a cause and effect to putting the seed in the ground.  The action was also the effect of the thought, which was the cause.

VII. THE PRINCIPLE OF GENDER.
“Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all
planes.”–The Kybalion.

In the West people are quick to  associate gender with sexuality but everything has both masculine and feminine properties.  Some manifest more than others.  When looking at the Earth and Sun we see a relationship.  The Sun gives and the Earth receives.  They have been dancing for 4.5 Billion years.  The Earth, although feminine to the Sun has an opposing role with the Moon which receives.  In situations, the roles can easily reverse.

Each of the principles will be expanded into its own post.  This is just the seed for thought.

Seasons Change

With the Soltices and Equinoxes the Earth goes through true geological, mathematical, astronomical changes.  It’s been said that astronomy was the world’s first science.  It’s what gave way to mathematics.  Men and women first looked up at the stars to find meaning in the world.  From a desire to measure distances time and to generally make sense out of our environmental reality we decided to further math.  This gave rise to even more math.  One of the first things discovered was that the Earth travels around the Sun in an elliptical pattern.  It does this on it’s axis with has a 23 degree angle.  There is also a retrograde wobble which we’ll talk about later.  There are four key points in this path around the Sun.  The two furthers points and the two closest points.  Countless ancient monuments and temples were built to both measure and celebrate this knowledge.  The days of 12 hours daylight and twelve hours of darkness are the equinoxes and the longest and shortest days (depending on what hemisphere you’re in) are soltices.  In the Northern Hemisphere the shortest day, the Winter Solstice, is in December.  It’s the longest day in the Southern Hemisphere.

These days are not disputable, they’re not open to too much interpretation.  They can be used as the facts behind countless myths, legends and religions.  I’m not discounting religion, merely stating that the facts behind it are the basis of different people’s personal ideaologies.  I may beleive that lightning is God’s wrath.  That’s could be what I beleive but that shouldn’t discount the science behind the lightning.   With that being said, the Winter Solstice is a celbratory time of year for meany people and religions.

The time is years coincides with ChristMass, Hannukhah, Kwaanza, New Years and Three King’s Day.  To each group the time of year means something different but what is held in common is the theme and timeframe.  The truth is that the days were celebrated thousands of years before any of the religions used them.  They are naturally occurring events that groups have used to mark their own ideaologies.  It makes sense.  Why reinvent the wheel.  The All created the Universe to operate a certain way, why should we fight it.

While the Earth goes through these changes 4 times a year, out bodies which are made up of Earth material also go through changes.  That is why so many people go through lengths to prepare their bodies at that time of year.  Some fast, pray, or meditate.  Some who feel the need to do something different but don’t know how to express it often over indulge themselves or become sad or depressed.  It’s obvious that there is a surge of energy.  Many feel that people are the cause of the new energy but fail to realize that people are the effect.  Cause and Effect rule the universe.  Knowledge and ignorance of them create wisemen and fools.

Relaxation

One of the myths about relaxation and meditation is that these very difficult states to attain.  Several recent and experiments though have proven the contrary.  A very simple technique developed by the doctor who coined the word “relaxation response” has essentially proven to reduce stress in individuals who find themselves in that state.   The tool used is an ultra sensitive electrode connected to the forehead and it measures the tension in our muscle fibers.

First, the subject is engaged in a general conversation about him/herself to get them into a normal state.  The subject is then told to concentrate on breathing for a few seconds each time taking longer breaths, and then to utter the word “calm on each exhale.  This simple form of meditation tends to get your thoughts racing in your head, so the subject is then directed to say the word “oh well” about these thoughts that come racing.

Repeating this for a few minutes can yield incredible results.

Peace!

Holisticism

Holisticism is about looking at things in life wholly.   In Kemet the Pharaoh wore two crowns.  One for upper and one for lower.  They physically meant upper and lower Kemet but metaphysically they meant upper and lower boundaries.  The vulture and the snake.  The vulture flies high scanning everything from above.  The snake is on the ground and sees every detail.  Only by uniting the high and the low can you be whole.  Harmachis or Her-Khem-Akhet (known as the Sphinx to the Greeks and the world now) was the body of a lion and the head of a Neter (God, also the root of the word nature).  It represents the union of higher and lower properties.  Some say we are physical beings having a spiritual experience, some say we are a spiritual beings having a physical experience.   Most won’t deny that we are both physical and spiritual.  Mental also lies somewhere in between.   Therefore it’s imperative to fuel physical, mental and spiritual health by applying natural holistic principles.
